Apart from being a style icon, Alexa Chung is about to become a tech mogul too. She ventured into the word of apps and produced one that is very true to her calling – fashion. The app is called Villoid and what it basically does is help you experiment and play with clothes, purchase the latest fashion must-haves from brands like Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs to ASOS and Converse, interact with like-minded fashionistas, upload photographs of clothes that you love and create your own personal fashion boards which you can then share with your friends and follow the most popular fashion bloggers.
In terms of its features, Villoid somewhat resembles Instagram and Pinterest. Users have even dubbed it “Instagram for Fashion”. It’s very easy to use, as well as practical, and fun. Also, it’s a source of good ideas of what to wear from morning to night. Alexa says that her inspiration for Villoid was the scene from the movie Clueless “where the computer puts an outfit together from Cher’s wardrobe”.
She developed the app together with technology expert and entrepreneur Jeanette Dyhre Kvisvik. Alexa is the creative force behind the app, while Jeanette and her team took care of the technical side.
Quite a few celebrities, like model and singer Pixie Geldof, are already hooked on Villoid. She calls it “the most addictive app in life.” Villoid is currently available for free download from iTunes here, although Android users will have to wait until the end of the year to get it.
