Have you every heard of the soapberry? Us either. A company out of San Francisco is looking to change that, though, with the introduction of Soapberri, the world’s first soap made straight from berries.
With just a little rub, the soapberry produces a rich, creamy lather from its Saponin, a truly botanical cleaner that’s naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Co-Founders Brian and Michael were inspired by the soapberry’s use in Taiwan, so they’ve partnered with local communities to harvest the often unused berries from the soapberry trees that grow to provide natural protection from typhoons. After combining ancient tradition and modern technology to process the soapberries, the resulting product is shampoo and body wash that is:
- Fair Trade
Soapberri is currently running a Kickstarter campaign in order to bring their products to the masses. While they can’t ship the soapberries themselves outside of the US, their shampoo and body wash can be shipped internationally. Already, they’ve raised enough funds to produce their products in ‘Relaxing Lavendar’ scent in addition to the original ‘Unscented Raw’, and they’re aiming to be able to offer a third scent, ‘Awakening Peppermint’.
Soapberri products are a natural and healthy way to take care of your hair and skin, and are especially suitable for camping or backpacking. Check out this video to see what all the fuss is about, and pick up some Soapberri of your own to get in on the action.
