Creative Space | Totokaelo NYC

IN Creative -

Awe, tranquility, comfort, excitement, challenge, inspiration. These are all things a truly creative space allows us to experience. Located in New York’s SoHo, Totokaelo is one of these spaces. The second ever brick-and-mortar location opened its doors in September 2015, stunning shoppers and passers-by with its five-story, 8,400-square-foot space unassumingly screened by the storefront at 54 Crosby Street.

Totokaelo is the work of Jill Wenger, Founder and CEO, who is recognized for her vision and talent for thoughtful and impeccable curation of designer women’s and men’s fashion, footwear and accessories. Her holistic approach to fashion, art and design is inarguably embodied in the new SoHo location.

Formerly an artist’s residence, Wenger transformed the space into a lofty stretch of five floors featuring a glorious skylight and rooms designated by partial partition. The space is open, airy, and warmed by natural wooden shelving, eclectic potted plants, and stacked books that void any clinical feel, instead eliciting the feeling of an immaculately outfitted home. Art and design elements are highlighted throughout.

Pieces from designers including Dries Van Noten, Comme des Garcons, Maison Margiela and Yohji Yamamoto are found throughout, with the Totokaelo Man given a dedicated space on the cavernous basement floor, and the women given a shoe wall, a denim area, and clothing divided into a white room, a black room and a color room.
